A visually tasty affair happening in October!

Christa Martin wrote a great article about how Phoenix, The Moody Artist was inspired to paint a new Series, 'Paint by Flavors' for The True Olive Connection. Phoenix creates moods and moving experiences visually. Read the complete article which was in October 13,2012, The Guide insert on Page 2 of the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

Starting October 5th with a Reception, 6 - 9 PM at 106 Lincoln St., Santa Cruz, come for the First Friday Art Walk. All fifteen painting of the Exhibition will be up for viewing and purchase all of October. Don't miss a chance to see this Concept Art of images created out of 'tasting' flavors of Oils and Vinegars.

A SHORT STORY: by Phoenix

The Shower

The flickering glow and shadows move together like a Viennes Waltz. Warm moist dew feels like silk clinging to every curve. Behind the door a hook holds steady her awaiting soft robe.

As she steps onto a towel to wick her feet, she tries to dismiss what her ears detect--one sound after another.

Reaching for her face creme - she halts. Breathing has suspended. All her body now is petrified in position.

She remembers instantly that she locked all the doors and windows. The movie 'Psycho' lingers in her mind - she had just watched a re-run.

Questions began streaming through her mind. Should she open the door and explore the abrupt sounds? Maybe stay in the bathroom as silent as possible behind the door, ready to attack with the hair dryer? What if there was an earthquake and something fell and she just didn't feel it? She thinks to herself, I have no animals, so nothing should be stirring around-right?

She says out loud under her breath: "Oh my God! Someone could have really broken in and I have no phone to call for help in here!"

Now she has run her thoughts to the worst possible scenario.

She can't move. Her breath is held tight to her chest. Minutes pass.

No new sounds have come from outside the bathroom door.

Did they leave? Maybe they got something of value--anything--and just left not even knowing she was that close by?

With every fiber of her Being, she grips the handle to the door, with the hairdryer still clinched in her right hand. Moving ever so slow and quiet - her hand turns the knob, she peers out the door - now opened by a few inches. She hears and sees no one. Not a thing stirring or missing as she notes with every small silent step away from the bathroom.

Her body begins to relax each muscle as she puts down the hairdryer.

A mouse had found it's way to the top of the kitchen counter. It was now in a frozen position staring back at her - with their eyes locked. Each frightened by the other.

She begins laughing and crying in simultaneous jolting.

The mouse? It was very quiet in taking exit once again to some hidden corner.

Spread Wings for Haiti by Phoenix

My feathers are your soft-landing when you need a ride to Heaven.

Earth may shake and quake, but your Spirit is strong and loud. If your heart is broken let it be healed by God's song of Love.

You are My Children. You are My Light. You are My Precious Souls.

My feathers are your soft-landing to heal from your wounds.

Earth my shake and quake, but your Spirit is strong and loud.

I spread my wings for you to be carried to safe and comforting hands.

You are a survivor, you will thrive and you will live on.

My feathers are your soft-landing while you embrace what is to come.

Earth may shake and quake, but your Spirit is strong and loud. I hold my wings firm and wide till you feel your own feet safely on the ground.

You are the gift of God and you are loved by many, you will live on.
